The rich, romantic sound of the cello has made it the popular alternative to the solo violin for wedding ceremonies and receptions. It will enhance your special day with a touch of elegance and sophistication.

With many years of experience playing at a wide variety of wedding venues, from small events to large receptions at prestigious locations such as Killarney Cathedral, Epsom Racecourse, Old Trafford, Amberley Castle and Kensington Palace, Lizzy May has built up a reputation for providing professional, first class wedding entertainment.

“Lizzy May is absolutely amazing, she exceeded our expectations and made our ceremony unique and special.” (Please click here for more client testimonials.)

Whether you are looking for wedding music for the ceremony, reception or evening party - or all three - Lizzy May can provide a complete package of varied entertainment, from background music to an eye-catching show.

Performances can be in a traditional style on acoustic cello for the ceremony and reception followed by the high energy Electric Cello Show to get the evening party going.

Professionally produced orchestral accompaniment gives the Electric Cello Show a full multi-instrument sound. For example most of the music on this website, including all the music played in the home page video, use accompaniments specifically commissioned for the Electric Cello Show. The resulting sound is not a “solo” cello!

For weddings with up to approximately 200 guests the electric performance includes a PA system within the quoted price. There’s no expensive amplification system to hire, no sound engineer required.....no hidden extras.

Lizzy May has a very extensive repertoire (click here for repertoire) but here are some wedding music suggestions:

At the Wedding Ceremony, the romantic sound of a traditional acoustic cello, with or without CD accompaniment, playing classics such as Mendelssohn’s Wedding March, Clark’s Trumpet Voluntary, Bach’s Prelude in G (Suite no. 1), Pachelbel’s Canon, Bach’s Air on a G String, Liszt’s Liebestraum, or Fauré’s Pavane. Other popular tunes include Ode to Joy, Ave Maria, and Chanson de Matin.

At the Wedding Reception, a background of classical/crossover/pop/film/Bollywood music (your choice) played on acoustic or electric cello and accompanied by professionally produced backing tracks. Classical examples include Puccini’s Nessun Dorma, Tchaikovsky’s Waltz from The Sleeping Beauty and Saint-Saëns’ The Swan. Pop examples range from Beatles and Abba to Coldplay and Take That. Some clients prefer background music throughout the reception while others opt for background music while drinks/meal is being served, followed by a choreographed 20-min Electric Cello Show to round off the event.

At the Evening Party the Electric Cello Pop Show - a very different tempo, with her futuristic-looking cello. This is the perfect prelude to the evening band - full of energy to get everyone on their feet! All-time favourites such as Viva la Vida - Coldplay,,Toccata (hip-hop version) - Bach, Variations - Paganini/Lloyd Webber, Palladio - Karl Jenkins, Jai Ho ('Slumdog Millionaire') - Pussycat Dolls, Toxic - Britney Spears, Fever - Peggy Lee, Fields of Gold - Sting, One Day Like This - Elbow, Rule the World - Take That.

These are just examples. The entertainment is always tailored to meet your specific requirements. If you have a favourite tune that isn’t on her standard repertoire, let her know can she can probably source it and arrange it for cello. There may be a small charge for this.
